This year, we are pleased to announce the debut of the SHIMANO PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD.

Designed to support the domestic builders' scene, the Award is voted entirely by SPOKEN 2025's attending public. The exhibiting small-batch builder with the most votes, and the winning build, will receive a $10,000 wholesale credit note with Shimano Australia.

Small-batch domestic builders are required to submit their applications by 5pm Friday, 13 June 2025.

Terms & Conditions

1. Eligibility

1.1. Participation in the Award is open exclusively to small-batch bike builders, makers, or manufacturers exhibiting at the SPOKEN 2025 event.

1.2. To qualify as a small-batch builder, brands must:

  • Design and manufacture bikes in limited production runs.

  • Not be classified as a mass-production brand.

  • Demonstrate craftsmanship, innovation, or unique design principles.

1.3. Each eligible builder must be based in Australia.

1.4. Each eligible builder may nominate one bike for the Shimano People’s Choice Award.

1.5. The nominated bike must be displayed at the brand’s stand for the duration of the event.

 

2. Shimano Build Requirement

2.1. The nominated bike must feature Shimano products as part of its build.

2.2. Shimano components must be clearly identifiable and form a key aspect of the bike’s build (e.g., drivetrain, braking system, wheelset, or groupset).

2.3. Non-Shimano-equipped bikes are not eligible for the Award.

 

3. Voting Process

3.1. Public voting will take place digitally via the SPOKEN website (www.spoken.bike/vote). The voting page will be activated at the commencement of the Show.

3.2. Only one vote per person is permitted.

3.3. The bike brand / builder with the highest number of votes at the end of the voting period will be declared the winner.

 

4. Award & Prize

4.1. The winning bike brand / builder will receive a AUD$10,000 Shimano wholesale credit.

4.2. The credit must be redeemed for Shimano products and cannot be exchanged for cash.

4.3. The credit cannot go toward past or existing orders or invoices, and the credit is only valid within the 2025 calendar year.

4.4. The winner will be announced at the conclusion of SPOKEN and via SPOKEN and SHIMANO Australia’s official social media channels.

 

5. Marketing & Promotions

5.1. Participating brands and builders are encouraged to promote their entry through social media, at the Show and marketing channels throughout the direction of the event.

5.2. Shimano and SPOKEN reserve the right to use images of nominated bikes for promotional purposes.

5.3. The hashtag for the campaign is #ShimanoPeoplesChoiceAward.

 

6. General Conditions

6.1. Shimano and SPOKEN reserve the right to verify the eligibility of participants and disqualify brands that do not meet the small-batch builder criteria.

6.2. Shimano and SPOKEN reserve the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the competition in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

6.3. Any disputes regarding the award will be resolved at the discretion of Shimano and SPOKEN’s event organisers.
